It’s a great set good to use for backyard bbq or a picnic. They are sturdy and of good quality. Environment friendliness is always a big plus when it comes to disposable itemsLooking at them, I thought the plates wouldn't be sturdy, but they are. Best thing about these are that they are great for the environment.!Great environmentally friendly product. These are very sturdy. Highly recommend. The listing info gives pretty good measurements so I won't duplicate that. What I can say is that I'm quite happy with this set.The plates are quite strong. I feel comfortable with ribs or fried chicken. Acidic or high moisture foods will speed up the process, also if you do a lot of cutting and break the plate's surface, but we're still talking days. These have held up very well in normal use situations. The cutlery is good, but it's not my idea of "heavy duty". The knife serration is good and it cuts quite well. It has a good spine on it but it will bend left to right if you aren't mindful. The spoon has an adequate bowl and smooth edges. The fork pokes things good. The napkins aren't Charmin, but they're adequate.Due to the covid stuff lately, we haven't gone camping or to a church social, nor are we doing the big family BBQs. For now, we just used them at home (pot roast!). I will be using them in all the above situations as soon as possible. The thing is, for these being backyard compostable, I am very impressed and happy with the quality. I do not mind one bit paying a teensy bit more attention to not putting sideways pressure on the knife, if it gets me away from plastic.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many everyday things you buy will generate a small donation from Amazon to the charity of your choice. I had a guest over just before I ordered this. She was asking for disposable cutlery to take on the road. I didn't have any and I had to give her actual metal pieces. The second is my husband works in a place where he can't bring metal silverware. If he's eating more than a sandwich or takeout he needs plastic. Now I can send him to work with soup and feel better that he isn't using plastic!Anyway! The size and shape are as described. The plates are pretty thick. I loaded my plate with 1.2lb of spaghetti and picked it up by the side. I think it held my food as well as any other paper plate. Better than cheaper plates. You could never put that much food on thin cheap paper plates. I ate with the utensils and they were the same as eating with any plastic cutlery. They were the same small size. I read they are made with cornstarch. I put my left overs on the small plate and covered it with plastic wrap. I left it for 3 days and I was shocked that when I went to eat it, it had not leaked out the bottom. The plate had gotten soft, so I'd probably put 2 plates if I was going to use them to store left overs, or not use it at all. This definitely would hold food on the way home from a BBQ or cook out. It's a 5 from me cause hey! It's not killing the planet. Some times you do need a paper plate. Is it sturdy enough? It is for a paper plate. And it's not leaking through.Normally I try to avoid single-use plastic items and even paper plates for regular home use for the obvious 2 reasons: expense and environmental concerns. While paper plates (I'm not even going to discuss styrofoam) may not remain in landfills for long, it's still an expense and overall a waste. Then came COVID.I have been pretty much quarantined with my husband and 2 children day in and day out since March 13th. That means no restaurants (and even when we order takeout, we use our own plates), no school lunches, no convenience grab and go stuff. Everything gets prepared here and then come the subsequent dishes. Y'all, I am sick to death of loading and unloading the G*$&(#ing dishwasher. I saw these: on the surface incredibly affordable and biodegradable (!!) and wanted to try. I could alleviate at least some of my guilt about single-use products if I knew they're not going to sit in a landfill for thousands of years. This is a lot of product for the price. My main excitement is the plates. You get a 50 count of each of the 2 sizes. They're square vs round and have a very shallow lip. The main issue when using is that soupier foods (think sauce, gravy) will need extra care when carrying to the table. Otherwise, this is a winner for me.I always feel guilty using plastic-ware and Styrofoam paper products. Sure, they hold up well for whatever event you are having, but they are an environmental nightmare. I got this complete set of plastic-ware and plates for a small barbecue this past weekend. I was feeling good about myself that I had ordered something environmentally friendly but I was a bit afraid that the plates would collapse on use. Or that they would smell funny. The box had a complete set of plates and utensils for 50 people. The plastic-ware is just as sturdy and usable as anything I have ever used before from any manufacturer. The plates were also sturdy. Manufacturer says they are BPA free and can be used in the freezer, refrigerator, and microwave. Even though the plates were very sturdy, I put a few in a small bucket of water overnight and they had already started to break up the next morning. Nothing had any sort of peculiar smell.I have some left over supplies from this weekend's event, but I'm going to order an extra set so that I have more. I high recommend these. I was very pleased with my first use.
